{"id":1593,"date":"2012-05-01T16:01:44","date_gmt":"2012-05-01T15:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.feedingedge.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1593"},"modified":"2012-05-01T16:01:44","modified_gmt":"2012-05-01T15:01:44","slug":"games-and-what-it-means-to-be-human-at-tedx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.feedingedge.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/05\/01\/games-and-what-it-means-to-be-human-at-tedx\/","title":{"rendered":"Games and what it means to be human at TEDx"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=epredator\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>I was really pleased to see that Andy Robertson aka <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/geekdadgamer\">GeekDadGamer<\/a> and of Wired UK and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamepeople.co.uk\/andyrobertson.htm\">GamePeople<\/a> and fellow guest on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feedingedge.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/03\/02\/skylanders-dads-and-tech\/\">Media Pulp Skylanders podcast<\/a> got to do a TEDx talk about games and what it means to be human.<br \/>\nAndy has been doing a lot of looking at games from a family perspective and here expands on his other way to approach an investigation of the depth of games by engaging with local artists to use games as the starting material.<br \/>\nTake a look as he explains what he means \ud83d\ude42 thats is of course the point of the talk.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RTJUrJ44kew\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nIt particularly resonates with me that Andy asks for a new priesthood of game critics that get the point of the game and the mechanics but connect it to being human.
